Two kitchen things I love are recipes/recipe books/cookbooks and fun napkins for my table. When my mother passed away, I was honored to be able to get her most prized possessions…her recipe books. She and I talked about eating, cooking, recipes, etc. often and I treasure those memories. We picked them up in January 2014 and on Mother’s Day that year, all the girls I love joined me and we went thru them and everyone took some home.
Now on to the napkins. I was at the walmarts one evening, on a mission but passed these adorable Pioneer Woman napkins, hanging on an end cap. I didn’t have time to pick them up at that moment but I filed them in my brain, thinking how perfect they’d be for spring/summer. Days later, I went to get some and they were gone, nowhere to be found in the “kitchen” area. I must’ve been looking dejected because some nice, young associate asked me if he could help. I explained my dire situation and how I really ‘needed’ these exact napkins. He looked for them then pulled out that handy dandy contraption that tells the workers what is where. They were deemed to be RIGHT WHERE I WAS STANDING! Alas, they were not. I was sad. Mr. Colquhoun was patiently waiting for my pity party to be over and he escorted me home.
A few weeks later, my baby kid was shopping (at the walmarts) and came across some plastic cupcake holders back in the craft section. She called to tell me (because I use them occasionally) and I nonchalantly thanked her for that info. A few weeks after that, I was there, again, and decided to check out the cupcake plastics. I found them and lo and behold, right under those were the elusive, perfect, much needed napkins!!! I snatched them right up. Fast forward (do I ever do that in my story telling) to after Easter. I opened the napkins and one fell open. It was destiny because there, inside the napkins were recipes! Who thought to do that, besides the Pioneer Woman? I must be her spirit sister or bff. I mean, she doesn’t need to know me for that to be, right? So I am now one with a happy table, as these napkins are as perfect as I thought they’d be.
Moral of the story? Heck if I know, but I do love these napkins. And my 750 cookbooks. Have a great week, my friends…I’ll be talking to you!
